Let it snow, let it snow.

Lots of people go on about the over commercialisation of Christmas, how it's lost the real meaning and turned into a big shop-fest.

Well I just realised why I really love Christmas.

I spent today in the jungle that is Cambridge City Centre, waging a war against the cold, the onset of snow, the slow-walkers, and general mash of too many people all shoppin at the same time on the last Saturday before Christmas.

And here I am now (having eaten a monster steak an ale pie) listening to 'The best Christmas album in the world ... ever' and wrapping all the pressies I have bought.

And do you know what? I have spent the whole day thinking about my friends and family. I wandered around town with everyone I know bouncing around in my brain as I decided who was getting a pressie, and what I wanted to get them that I thought they would like and enjoy. But I also thought about people who I wasn't buying for, people who I don't see that often, or for a while, and I started contacting people and arranging to meet up, or just see how they are.

I spend most of everyday busy doing things I love, that benefit me and the people I teach/work with. Today I have mostly been focusing on everyone who makes my life that little bit better by being part of it, and it feels great.

So, for me, Christmas is a time that helps me focus on my friends and family, and just being happy.
